Jake and Carolyn

So I have started a vermiculture bin!  I have done a bunch of research and it all seemed pretty straight forward.  I set up my bin (a 3 gal bucket with holes drilled strategically on the bottom and sides), I shredded a bunch of newspaper for the bedding (now that there are worms in it I can see that I did not put near enough in it), Carolyn and I had been saving food scraps for like 2-3 weeks (bad idea, but it was my idea),  I then finally found a lady locally in Moscow, Idaho that was willing to sell me some worms.  The progect has so far cost me $20 for the worms.  I have had the worms for about a week and a half and they are going to town.  They supposidly eat more than their weight in food a day and about 1000 worms makes a pound, sadly I do not have the time to count all the worms, but they are still alive and eatting.  I will try to take some pictures a bit later on, but a hand full of worms is a bit disconcerting.

After the Birthday party mentioned below we all went over to Ian and Kami’s house where we really just hung around.  I tried to play a lot of frisbee with Alex and Ian mainly, but mom and Carolyn got in a few throws.  Mom did some weeding and Noah got in on that a bit, but mostly he just played with his cousins in the dirt.

So about a month ago Noah had a birthday party because he turned 2 years old.  We had just barely had Heidi on the 7th so both Grandmas were here for a bit when Noah had his day on the 19th.  The whole event went by very well, there was a bit of wind but it was not bad.  Carolyn had made a birthday banner that was awesome and little gift bags for everyone.  She also made a cake that was very cool; the cake was the kind where you poke holes all over it then pour jello over it.  I have had this kind of cake before and it turned out very poorly so I was mildly frightened at the idea.  To put you all at rest the cake was very tasty.  Since all  of Noah’s friends are in the 2 years old range they all mainly played until we had cake and even then some of them were still playing.  We have been practicing with Noah so that he would be able to blow the candles out efficiently, but even with practice two year old lungs can only hold a bit of air.  His training proved successful and he was able to blow both candles out without the help of many eager assistants.  He has wanted a baseball mit for a long time now so we obliged and I was surprised to see how excited he was to get one as a present.

I have been known to frequent a site called miniclip.com.  The site contains a million dopy little games that do not take up a ton of time.  A new game showed up the other day that is one of the coolest games I have played yet.  It is called Chronotron, you are this little robot whose time machine broke and is only able to loop back in time until you collect the circuits you need at each level.  I think it is especially cool because you have to move your character around with the thought of what your future selves will be doing. It is a puzzle game.
